Pet Owners to Use CBD to Ease Pain.

It may be surprising, but the biggest customers of CBD are pet owners. What is CBD? It is a non-euphoric cannabis compound that has many relieving benefits from:

  1. Anxiety
  2. Joint pain
  3. Nausea
  4. Bowel inflammation
  5. Moodiness

Opposite of its counterpart, which is most commonly known as THC, which is responsible for getting you high.

Albeit, dog and cat owners are increasingly trying to provide relief to their pets by using CBD products. These pet owners hope of relieving anxiety and seizures, claiming that CBD is 100% effective. Still, before giving the green light to all pet owners, additional research needs to be implemented.

Booming Market

A current hot topic discussed today is CBD. Why is that? Because CBD Infusions are in products like:

  1. Tea
  2. Body lotions
  3. Meatballs

Pet owners tend to view their animal as part of the family, making the pet product industry a very lucrative market. According to Bright Field Group, a considerable amount of money was spent last year on CBD, with sales quadrupling from 8 million in 2017 to $ 32 million.

Proven Science

Despite all the hype surrounding CBD, there is still no definitive data showing that it helps pets. A plethora of warnings has been disseminated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding CBD. The FDA has advised about giving CBD to pets and hasn’t approved marijuana products for animal or human consumption. Despite this, CBD is still trending among pet lovers. Many consider their pets as family and will do anything to provide for their health.

Moreover, a company that has taken advantage of this trend is Charlotte’s Web.  A prominent leader in the CBD oil industry (having introduced an ingestible for canines in 2016). They recently launched new products, including chicken flavored CBD oil and balms that are safe for dogs to lick. The company expects to get more sales from pets owners who are purchasing CBD for their pets, with a projected growth to follow.
